Borderlands 4 Release Date Moved Up to September 12

New Trailer Coming at April 30 State of Play

Borderlands 4 Release Date Moved Up to September 12

In a surprising but welcome update, Borderlands 4 is now set to launch earlier than expected, with the release date moved up to September 12, 2025. Originally scheduled for September 23, Gearbox has accelerated the timeline, citing smooth development progress—but many speculate this is a strategic move to avoid overlap with the highly anticipated GTA VI.

The game will be available across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam and Epic), and Nintendo Switch 2, marking a broad platform release and full cross-play support across all systems.

Set on a new planet called Kairos, players will lead a resistance against the oppressive rule of the Timekeeper, a new antagonist in the Borderlands universe. With four brand-new Vault Hunters, each bringing unique skills and fresh playstyles, Borderlands 4 continues the looter-shooter legacy while pushing the series forward.

Exciting new gameplay features include grappling hooks for enhanced traversal, seamless open-world exploration with no loading screens, and an even more chaotic arsenal of weapons. Gearbox promises deeper co-op mechanics and fast-paced action fans have come to expect.

A brand-new trailer is set to debut during the April 30 State of Play, where we’ll get our first extended look at gameplay, missions, and possibly even endgame content.

With its earlier launch and ambitious gameplay updates, Borderlands 4 looks ready to deliver one of 2025’s biggest co-op experiences.
