Elden Ring: Nightreign Overview Trailer Reveals

FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have unveiled a 10-minute gameplay overview trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign, the newest standalone title expanding the Elden Ring universe. The game is set to launch on May 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

Unlike its predecessor’s solo journey through the Lands Between, Nightreign introduces a fast-paced, three-player co-op structure where players take on the role of one of eight Nightfarers, each with unique abilities. The team-based combat demands coordination and synergy, marking a bold shift in gameplay philosophy.

Set on a dynamic map that changes with every session, players must adapt to new biomes, enemies, loot drops, and environmental conditions. A daily cycle system introduces time-based encounters, culminating in end-of-day boss fights that challenge even the most seasoned players.

Nightreign features a roguelite progression system where players retain and upgrade relics even after failed runs. This approach encourages replayability and gives each session a unique feel, as strategy and experimentation become key.

FromSoftware’s willingness to evolve the Elden Ring formula with cooperative mechanics and roguelike elements shows a clear intent to broaden its audience without alienating core fans. Nightreign could be a defining release in the action RPG genre this year.
