After sitting out Gamescom in 2024, Nintendo is officially making its return to Europe’s biggest gaming convention. The company has confirmed that it will be present at Gamescom 2025, taking place in Cologne, Germany from August 20th to 24th — just months after the highly anticipated launch of the Switch 2.
Speculation had previously suggested that Nintendo skipped last year’s show to focus on preparing for its next-generation console. Now, with the Switch 2 set to release on June 5th, this year’s Gamescom is shaping up to be a major platform for Nintendo to showcase its upcoming titles and engage directly with fans.
The announcement was made via social media, where Nintendo invited fans to “mark your calendar in red” and get ready for its comeback in Cologne.

While the exact lineup for Gamescom hasn’t been revealed yet, expectations are high. Early adopters will likely have already gotten their hands on titles like Mario Kart World, Drag x Drive, and Donkey Kong Bananza by then, but Nintendo is also expected to spotlight major releases still to come in 2025, including Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
With the Switch 2 still fresh in players’ hands by August, Nintendo’s return to Gamescom could be one of its most exciting public showings in years.
