FuRyu has announced Varlet, a new school life RPG developed by Aquria, launching worldwide on August 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Set in Kousei Academy, the game takes place in a world where a VR network called Johari has become integrated into everyday student life. As the desire for attention intensifies through Johari, strange “Glitch” realms begin to appear, spawning monsters known as Desires that replace students in the real world.
Players step into the role of a student who joins the Student Support Services (SSS), a group dedicated to uncovering and resolving these mysterious incidents. The game blends social interaction, relationship management, and turn-based combat, with choices impacting both story direction and character development. Forming close bonds can bring strength—but also unforeseen consequences.
At the heart of Varlet is its Triad Stats system, which tracks six attributes split between Light and Dark Triad traits. Light stats focus on morality, sympathy, and altruism, while Dark stats emphasize Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism. Player decisions shape not just dialogue options and relationships, but also battle abilities and how the protagonist is perceived.
Varlet invites players to explore the duality of human nature through a unique blend of high school drama and psychological RPG mechanics. More details are expected in the lead-up to its August release.
