What was once known as Project Century now has a name—and a clear direction. Say hello to Stranger Than Heaven, the latest title from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the legendary minds behind the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series.
Set in 1915 Japan, Stranger Than Heaven takes us deep into a gritty, open-world action experience that’s shaping up to be far more than just a period piece. With early glimpses teasing raw street brawls, smoky gambling dens, and the dark roots of Japan’s criminal underworld, this might just be the origin story of the Omi Alliance—or at least something just as heavy.
RGG Studio is no stranger to weaving crime, drama, and larger-than-life characters into dense, emotionally charged worlds. And from what little we’ve seen so far, Stranger Than Heaven looks like it’s diving headfirst into a time and setting rarely explored in games, with their signature mix of action, heart, and chaos.
There’s no release window yet, but the tone is set, and it’s already grabbing attention. We are excited for the new Yakuza game.
