The Outer Worlds 2 Arrives This October on Game Pass

Coming October 29 for Xbox and PC Players

Obsidian Entertainment has officially announced that The Outer Worlds 2 will launch on October 29, 2025, exclusively for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will also be available on Game Pass from day one, reaffirming Microsoft’s focus on platform-exclusive RPGs.

The highly anticipated sequel takes players to an entirely new star system, leaving the original game’s Halcyon Colony behind. Players will meet a new crew, explore unknown planets, and face morally gray decisions that shape their journey. The announcement trailer showcases a larger scale, improved visuals, and deeper gameplay systems—most notably, a revamped perk system and companion dynamics.

Building on the original’s cult following, The Outer Worlds 2 aims to deliver a more expansive and narrative-driven experience. Fans of classic Obsidian storytelling can expect sharp wit, corporate satire, and player-driven consequences that made the first game a standout. While the familiar charm remains, the scale and ambition of this sequel are notably elevated.

The trailer emphasizes a blend of spacefaring exploration and grounded faction-driven conflict, potentially putting it in direct conversation with larger sci-fi RPGs on the market. Obsidian’s strength in balancing dark humor with philosophical undertones appears intact, promising a richer, more immersive world.

As October approaches, expectations are high—but if the footage is any indication, The Outer Worlds 2 is poised to deliver one of the year’s most memorable role-playing experiences.
