Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is making a powerful return with a confirmed physical release for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, arriving on September 12, 2025. Developed by The Game Kitchen, the studio behind Blasphemous, and published by Dotemu, Ragebound brings back the legendary Ninja Gaiden franchise as a fast-paced, 2D side-scrolling action-platformer. The game first debuted during The Game Awards 2024 and quickly caught attention for blending nostalgic pixel-art style with modern combat mechanics.
In Ragebound, players will control two protagonists—Kenji Mozu and Kumori—each with unique abilities and styles. The game introduces a fusion mechanic, challenging demon-infested levels, and tight, precise combat that recalls the difficulty and satisfaction of the NES originals. With a focus on fast action and skill-based gameplay, Ragebound is designed to be both a homage and a bold new step for the franchise.
The physical editions are being published by Silver Lining Interactive and mark a significant shift from previous Ninja Gaiden games, many of which were digital-only or had limited physical releases in select regions. This time, fans worldwide will be able to pick up a boxed version, adding to their collection or simply enjoying the game on cartridge or disc. The physical editions will be available shortly after the game’s digital launch in summer 2025.
