Sega isn’t holding back with Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. During the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, the company dropped a fresh trailer showcasing its latest crossover surprise: SpongeBob SquarePants and friends are officially joining the race.
The trailer revealed that characters like SpongeBob and Patrick will arrive as post-launch content, complete with themed vehicles and an underwater track straight out of Bikini Bottom. This follows Summer Game Fest’s reveal that characters from Persona, Like a Dragon, and Minecraft will be featured on the starting grid alongside Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Shadow.
And it doesn’t stop there—Sega confirmed more Nickelodeon crossovers are coming, including content from Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These additions are all part of the game’s broader crossover plan, which also includes Sonic Prime and two more unannounced collaborations.
To access the Nickelodeon content and other cross-universe bonuses, players will need either the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Season Pass.
Preorders are now live for both the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Collector’s Edition, each packed with bonuses for die-hard fans.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launches September 25 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also in development and will follow at a later date.
