It’s getting a bit rough in the Halo Infinite community, especially for the Forge scene. Some of the most dedicated and talented Forge creators—people behind the coolest custom maps and modes—are officially throwing in the towel. And honestly, you can’t blame them. They’re all pointing fingers at the same issue: a serious lack of support.
Forge was supposed to be Infinite’s big creative sandbox. But after the initial excitement, updates have been pretty dry. Features that the community has been begging for—like proper map voting, curated playlists, and new tools—just haven’t shown up. One user on Reddit summed up the feeling with, “If they are dropping support, well that’d make sense.” Another didn’t hold back, saying, “Seriously, f** 343.”* So yeah, emotions are running high.
And it’s not just the community talking. Word is that 343 Industries has already shifted most of its focus to the next wave of Halo projects, which are reportedly being built in Unreal Engine 5. That’s left Halo Infinite with what insiders are calling a “skeleton crew.” If that’s true, then Forge isn’t just being neglected—it might already be unofficially shelved.
Forge has always been one of Halo’s strongest features, letting the community keep things alive long after launch with wild ideas and custom content. But if top creators are walking away, that whole creative loop starts to break. With fewer new maps and less buzz around custom games, the casual player base also starts to fade out. That’s a real problem if Forge was meant to be the thing giving Infinite long-term legs.
At the end of the day, Halo Infinite had something really special with Forge. But without proper support, even the most passionate fans can’t carry the weight forever. If 343 doesn’t reengage with the community soon, it’s looking more and more like Forge will go the way of the rest of Infinite’s wasted potential.
