Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sucker Punch Productions have officially announced a dedicated State of Playpresentation for Ghost of Yōtei, set to stream on July 10, 2025. The broadcast will feature over 20 minutes of new gameplay, presented by creative leads Jason Connell and Nate Fox.
Ghost of Yōtei, the spiritual successor to Ghost of Tsushima, transports players to Hokkaido in 1603, during a time of political unrest and personal vengeance. In this installment, players will step into the shoes of Atsu, a mercenary haunted by the loss of his family, seeking justice in a world torn between honor and survival.
The showcase will highlight key systems such as character customization, refined combat mechanics, and free-form exploration. Early teasers already hinted at a darker narrative tone, and this extended look promises to cement Yōtei’s unique identity.
This State of Play isn’t just a content drop—it’s a signal of intent. Sony is treating Ghost of Yōtei as a major pillar of its upcoming lineup. With more player agency, deeper storytelling, and a matured design philosophy, this could become the defining samurai experience of the PS5 generation.
