SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have officially announced the next evolution of their flagship fighting series: Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, launching October 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam) at a price of $19.99. A Switch 2 version is also in the works and will release at a later date.
Players who already own Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to World Stage for $9.99, with all previously purchased DLCs transferring over.
A Bigger Stage with Familiar Faces
The big addition here is the “World Stage” single-player mode, which has players fighting through international tournaments filled with CPU versions of real-life pro players. Think of it as a campaign mode that doubles as a tribute to the game’s competitive legacy.
Closed Beta Coming in September
Before launch, SEGA will host a closed beta in early September, giving players a chance to test the updated gameplay systems and online infrastructure.
Pre-Order Bonuses
Early adopters will receive a bunch of extras, including:
Custom Item: Genesis
Legendary Pack & Yakuza Series Pack
30th Anniversary Swimsuit Costume Set for all fighters
Virtua Fighter Pre-Production Secret Materials
Virtua Fighter 30th Anniversary Music Selection
Dural Enters the Ring
For the first time, Dural will be fully playable via paid DLC. The game’s iconic final boss becomes part of the roster, although she’s banned from official tournaments.
What Else Is New?
Cross-play across all platforms
Rollback netcode for smoother online battles
For PC players who already own Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., the upgrade to World Stage will be automatically applied at no additional cost on Steam.
