One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is gearing up for some exciting news this weekend, and fans have plenty to keep an eye on. Back on February 12, 2025, Bandai Namco celebrated the game’s 4 million global sales with two big announcements: a free next-gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a special fan DLC poll that let players vote for their favorite new fighters. The poll, which ran until February 28, allowed everyone to pick up to three characters from a list of 23, and the results have been kept under wraps ever since.
The voting lineup was stacked with big names. Favorites included Shiki, Zephyr, Enel, Perona, Foxy, Gild Tesoro, and Green Bull (Ryokugyu). Some community chatter suggests Zephyr may have made a surprise leap into the top slots—something not everyone expected given the popularity of Green Bull, King, and Enel. And with so many fan-favorite contenders, there’s still hope Bandai Namco might pull two DLC packs from this poll instead of just one.
The reveal we’ve been waiting for is set to happen during the main stage event in Japan on August 10, which lines up to Saturday evening in PDT (around 6 PM). We don’t yet know the exact segment timing, but this is where we could finally get confirmation on which characters won the poll, if a second DLC pack is coming, and whether a Switch 2 upgrade will join the already-announced PS5 and Series X|S versions.
Meanwhile, the Ultimate Edition of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is on sale on the Nintendo eShop for just $20 (79% off) until August 18. This bundle packs in both previous Character Passes and the three big post-game modes—though the two music packs aren’t included. With 61 playable characters, extra stages, air combos, sky class abilities, and full transformations for certain characters, it’s one of the meatiest licensed Warriors games ever—second only to Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition in content, but with flashier, faster combat. If you’re tempted, it might be worth holding off until after the weekend reveal in case Switch 2 upgrade news drops.
