Developer Bit Kid has confirmed that its sci-fi World War II Metroidvania, WOLFHOUND, will launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).
First revealed in 2024, the game has been quiet since, but Bit Kid is back with new details, including fresh enemy types, weapons, and mobility upgrades.
The Mission
You play as Captain Chuck “WOLFHOUND” Rossetti, ordered to infiltrate a strange island, wipe out enemy forces, and rescue a lost crew stranded in the Bermuda Triangle. What he finds instead is the twisted work of Nazi scientist Dr. Steiner — grotesque experiments that push the battlefield into the realm of horror.
New Enemies
The latest trailer reveals several bizarre threats, including:
Mutant rats with bladed tails
A hulking armored bodyguard
Pulsating, formless flesh monsters
Weapons and Tech
Combat is all about scavenging and survival. Players can loot gear and turn experimental Nazi weapons like the railgun against their creators. Exploration also benefits from powerful mobility tech, including air-dash boots and a jetpack, letting Rossetti scale previously unreachable terrain.
A War-Twisted Metroidvania
Bit Kid describes WOLFHOUND as a mix of classic Metroidvania design with the atmosphere of pulp WWII sci-fi. Dr. Steiner’s fortress is full of interlocking passages, enemies, and secrets, with the fate of the world hanging on Rossetti’s survival.
