Kojima Productions Reveals Poster and Cast for Physint

During the Beyond the Strand presentation, Hideo Kojima offered a rare update on Physint, the studio’s upcoming action espionage project. First revealed at the January 2024 State of Play, Physint remains in the early conceptual stage, but new details shed light on the scope Kojima is aiming for.

A New Poster and First Look

Kojima shared a piece of key art featuring the game’s protagonist, though the main actor has not yet been confirmed. The poster emphasizes the cinematic direction Kojima has hinted at since the project’s announcement, once again blurring the line between game and film. Kojima stated that Physint’s technology will surpass that of OD, the studio’s cloud-powered horror project, suggesting that visual fidelity and performance capture will be central pillars.

Cast Members Confirmed

Although the protagonist’s actor remains unannounced, Kojima did confirm three supporting cast members, all from the film industry:

  • Charlee Fraser (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Anyone But You)

  • Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee) (Train to Busan, Eternals)

  • Minami Hamabe (Godzilla Minus One)

Hamabe’s character model was showcased in-engine, highlighting the game’s advanced rendering technology. The demonstration was meant to underline how Physint will aim for realism that rivals modern cinema.

Kojima’s Vision for Physint

Kojima once again stressed that Physint is designed to be more than just a game—it’s a hybrid of cinema and interactive storytelling, continuing his long-time ambition to create a true “digital movie-game.” He described it as an “action espionage title,” which immediately invites comparisons to Metal Gear Solid, though Kojima has not directly acknowledged whether Physint will mirror those gameplay traditions.

Release Platforms

There is still no release window, but Kojima Productions confirmed that Physint will arrive on PlayStation platforms, most likely targeting Sony’s next-generation hardware. Given Kojima’s track record, expect a long wait—he himself noted earlier this year that the project is likely “at least five years away.”
