Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios have officially announced Forza Horizon 6, set to launch in 2026. The open-world racing title will release first on Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store), with a PlayStation 5version arriving at a later date. The game will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The reveal trailer confirmed that the game will be set in Japan, showcasing landmarks such as Mount Fuji and blending natural landscapes with dense urban environments. Seasonal changes—spring, summer, fall, and winter—will once again play a central role, affecting both the atmosphere and driving conditions.

Developers highlighted their dedication to authenticity, noting that extensive field research in Japan was conducted to capture local culture, sounds, and environmental details. This decision was heavily influenced by fan demand, as the community has long requested Japan as a Horizon location.
For Retro Palmetto readers, this marks one of the franchise’s most exciting shifts yet. With Japan’s mix of winding mountain roads, neon-lit cities, and cultural richness, Forza Horizon 6 could redefine the open-world racing formula while also setting a new bar for realism and immersion.
