Battlefield 6 just dropped, and fans already have one burning question. Will we finally get to storm beaches or chase tanks from the sea again? The short answer: not yet, but all signs point to it coming later.
Dataminers recently uncovered in-game files referencing jet skis and RHIB boats, hinting that DICE is quietly preparing for some kind of naval expansion. On top of that, EA has said that “player requests for naval warfare haven’t gone unnoticed,” which definitely sounds like something’s brewing beneath the waves.

Right now, the Season 1 roadmap doesn’t include any naval maps or modes. Everything at launch focuses on ground and air combat, so you won’t be hopping into a boat anytime soon. But the presence of those water vehicles in the code means the devs are at least experimenting with sea combat behind the scenes.
Most likely, we’ll see smaller-scale water fights first. Think fast jet skis and assault boats before massive ships or all-out naval battles. These are easier to balance and fit better into existing map designs. If things go smoothly, a full naval update could arrive in Season 2 or 3, sometime in 2026.
Fans are cautiously optimistic. Battlefield veterans remember how fun naval combat was in BF4, and they’ve been waiting for that experience to return. For now, it’s a waiting game but it’s clear DICE hasn’t forgotten about the ocean.
