Epic Games has rolled out a massive update for Fortnite on the newly launched Nintendo Switch 2, bringing a much-needed performance boost and exciting new features that elevate the handheld battle royale experience.
Thanks to the Switch 2’s upgraded hardware, Fortnite now runs at a smooth 60 frames per second—doubling the previous cap on the original Switch. Players will also enjoy sharper visuals with improved resolution, reaching 2176×1224 in docked mode and 1600×900 in handheld. The update also adds enhanced draw distances, more realistic shadows and water effects, detailed textures, and reactive clothing physics, creating a more immersive environment.
New control options arrive too, with mouse-style aiming enabled via Joy-Con 2 controllers for better precision. Voice communication makes a return through GameChat support, while the Replay system is back to let players relive their epic wins and near-misses. The Capture button now allows seamless gameplay clip recording—perfect for sharing those clutch moments online.
As an added bonus, players who log in to Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch 2 before March 31, 2026, will receive a free Wishing Star Emote as an exclusive reward.
With these upgrades, Fortnite on Switch 2 not only closes the gap with other platforms but offers a smoother, sharper, and more connected gameplay experience tailored for Nintendo fans.
