At the June 4, 2025 PlayStation State of Play event, Sucker Punch Productions unveiled Ghost of Yōtei, the highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. The new cinematic trailer introduces Atsu, a skilled rōnin driven by revenge against the Yōtei Six, a band of masked outlaws responsible for her family’s tragic massacre.
Set in the rugged and beautiful region of Ezo, present-day Hokkaido, Ghost of Yōtei offers an expansive open-world experience with enhanced gameplay features. Players will discover new weapon types including dual katanas, kusarigama, and odachi, adding depth and variety to combat.
Sucker Punch plans a detailed gameplay deep dive in July 2025, promising an in-depth look at exploration, stealth, and combat mechanics. The game is scheduled for release on October 2, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
Building on the success of its predecessor, Ghost of Yōtei aims to deliver a more dynamic world and a flexible, non-linear narrative allowing players to choose how they approach missions and exploration, boosting replay value and player freedom.
