Hitman Absolution Coming to Mobile and Nintendo Switch

IO Interactive’s 2012 Classic Expands Across Platforms with Renewed Strategy

IO Interactive and Feral Interactive have officially confirmed that Hitman: Absolution will make its mobile debut on iOS and Android this fall 2025, with a Nintendo Switch release arriving by the end of the year, and a native Switch 2 version launching in 2026. The mobile edition is expected to retail at $14.99 USD, while Switch pricing remains to be confirmed.

Originally released in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, Hitman: Absolution marked a bold, cinematic shift in the franchise. Emphasizing personal storytelling, stealth-action gameplay, and the introduction of the “Instinct Mode” mechanic, the game allowed players to track enemy patrols and plan attacks with tactical precision. Despite mixed reception at launch due to its more linear level design, the title has since developed a cult following.

The upcoming ports are being handled by Feral Interactive, a developer with a proven record in bringing legacy titles to new platforms—Hitman: Blood Money – Reprisal being a recent success story. Their involvement reassures fans that Absolution will be faithfully optimized for modern devices.

On mobile, players can expect reworked touchscreen interfaces, full gamepad compatibility, and platform-specific tweaks. For Nintendo Switch, the experience will retain console-quality visuals, while the Switch 2 version aims to push technical boundaries with improved framerates, lighting, and enhanced texture fidelity.

A Sign of Broader Hitman Strategy?

This port rollout raises questions about IO Interactive’s broader strategy for the Hitman IP. By revitalizing older titles across modern hardware—including casual-friendly platforms like mobile—the studio is clearly positioning Agent 47 for a new generation of gamers. The move could serve both as fan service and as a runway for future announcements, possibly even an entirely new title in the Hitman universe.

Online discussion also reflects cautious optimism. While some players voice concerns about control precision on mobile, others highlight Feral’s track record as reason for confidence. On Reddit, users pointed to the thoughtful Blood Money adaptation as a benchmark for quality.

If successful, Hitman: Absolution’s re-release could pave the way for additional legacy ports, or even more experimental Hitman spin-offs tailored for handheld or mobile-first audiences.
