For the first time in its 40-year history, the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise is coming to PlayStation. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launches on December 8, 2025, for PS5 and PS5 Pro, marking a major milestone for one of gaming’s longest-running and most acclaimed simulation series.
The Largest and Most Diverse Aircraft Fleet Yet
PlayStation simmers will have access to 125 highly detailed aircraft, the largest lineup in the franchise’s history. The range includes ultralights, bush trip planes, rotorcraft, eVTOLs, airships, business jets, wide-body airliners, heavy military transports, and even fighter jets. Each has been tuned with authentic aerodynamics tested by real pilots.
Coinciding with the PS5 launch, players will also get to break the sound barrier in Boom Supersonic’s XB-1 demonstrator, America’s first civil supersonic jet.
PS5 Enhancements and DualSense Immersion
The PlayStation version takes advantage of the DualSense controller to create a cockpit-like experience. Adaptive triggers respond to speed and air resistance, ATC communications play through the controller speaker, gyro controls allow fine maneuvers, and the touchpad and lightbar offer additional feedback.
On PS5 Pro, the simulator pushes visual fidelity even further, supporting the full scope of its real-time global rendering:

In 2026, PlayStation VR2 owners will also get a free update enabling full VR support.
All-New Career System and Missions
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 introduces a career progression system to ease new pilots into the simulator. Missions and activities span aerial firefighting, search and rescue, agriculture, aerial construction, and more. Beyond structured missions, the game includes:

Rally races
Competitive Challenge League play
Relaxed exploration flights, with opportunities to photograph landmarks and wildlife
Updates and Community Support
The simulator will continue to evolve on PS5 with World Updates and Sim Updates, as well as a marketplace for new aircraft, airports, and add-ons created by third-party developers.
