Nintendo Renews Metroid Prime Trademarks

Nintendo has quietly renewed trademarks for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Metroid Prime: Hunters, sparking a wave of speculation among fans eager for more from the sci-fi series. While such renewals are common and usually amount to routine legal maintenance, the timing is hard to ignore.

With Metroid Prime Remastered surprising everyone on the Switch in 2023, and Metroid Prime 4 reportedly headed for Nintendo’s upcoming console, there’s growing hope that the full Prime saga might be getting a second life. Whether this means remasters of Prime 2 and 3, or simply long-term brand protection, remains to be seen.

Trademark filings rarely confirm future plans, but in a post-Tears of the Kingdom and Wonder world, where Nintendo has been giving its major franchises the spotlight it’s not unreasonable to hope that Metroid could be next in line.
