Nioh 3 Announced for PS5 with Two Combat Styles and a Free Demo Starting Today

Team Ninja is back in full swing. During today’s State of Play, Nioh 3 was officially revealed, and the long-awaited sequel is launching exclusively on PlayStation 5. Even better—there’s a free limited-time demo available right now.

Set once again in the dark and war-torn Sengoku period, Nioh 3 puts you in the shoes of a young warrior on the path to becoming the next Shogun. This time, the fight against the yokai grows more personal—and far more brutal.

What makes this sequel stand out is its dual-style combat system. Players can switch between two distinct fighting paths: the classic, methodical Samurai style, and the fast, unpredictable Ninja style. Samurai fans will feel right at home with familiar mechanics, boosted by new systems like Arts Proficiency and last-second Deflects that turn tense duels into brutal chess matches.

Ninja players, on the other hand, can dash, double jump, and vanish mid-combo. Using tools like Mist, which leaves behind a clone, or Evade, which narrowly dodges incoming attacks, you’ll carve through enemies with speed and precision. The best part? You can switch between both styles anytime.

On top of that, Nioh 3 features an open field design—a first for the series. Expect deadly yokai hiding in the shadows of cursed villages, haunted forests under moonlight, and hidden paths full of secrets and danger. This isn’t a corridor hack-and-slash anymore—it’s wide, dangerous, and built for discovery.

The demo is live now and runs through June 18. It includes a peek at the character creator and early access to the new systems. Team Ninja is asking for player feedback to help shape the final game, so this isn’t just a preview—it’s a chance to influence what Nioh 3 becomes.
