Pocketpair has revealed a brand-new entry in its monster-collecting franchise, Palworld: Palfarm, following closely behind the news of Palworld’s 1.0 launch. Unlike the survival-action focus of the main game, this spinoff strips things back and zeroes in on farming.
Life on the Island
In Palfarm, players relocate to an island where they’ll work alongside Pals to build a life rooted in agriculture. Expect classic farm sim features: tilling fields, planting crops, crafting tools, cooking dishes, and selling goods at a local market.
Multiplayer support is confirmed, and different Pals provide unique skills that directly enhance your farming efficiency. Bonding mechanics are also a focus, with options to talk to your Pals or give them gifts to strengthen relationships. Not everything is cozy, though—your farm will occasionally come under attack from wild Pals, meaning defense is part of the gameplay loop.
The Elephant in the Room
The announcement’s timing is striking. It arrives just after the reveal of Pokémon Pokotopia, Nintendo’s own farming-focused spinoff. Pocketpair is already locked in a patent lawsuit with Nintendo over Palworld’s mechanics, and Palfarm’s trailer doesn’t shy away from poking that bear. The teaser ends with the protagonist tossing a Pal Sphere to capture a creature—a direct visual echo of the Poké Ball, and one of the mechanics Nintendo specifically targeted in its legal filings.
Pocketpair hasn’t given a release window, but Palfarm is slated to launch on PC via Steam. Pricing and console plans have not been discussed yet.
