The legendary rail shooter Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is making a comeback, this time as a full remake for modern hardware. After years of silence since its initial reveal in 2018, developer MegaPixel Studio and publisher Forever Entertainment have confirmed that the remake will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through both Steam and GOG.
Fans won’t have to wait much longer for their first hands-on. The game will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2025, where attendees can finally experience the updated visuals and gameplay in person. While a release date hasn’t been locked in yet, the price is already set at $24.99.
The remake promises to stay true to the original 1996 release while introducing a wide set of improvements. Players will once again step into the role of Jean-Jacque Lundi alongside his dragon companion Lagi, battling through branching stages, challenging bosses, and evolving dragon forms.
Here’s a quick look at what’s new:
Upgraded graphics that remain faithful to the art style of the original
A reworked soundtrack, including both classic and remastered tracks by Saori Kobayashi
Multiple routes, different dragon evolutions, and the fan-favorite Pandora’s Box mode after the main campaign
Two control options — the classic style and a modernized scheme for newcomers
With this remake, one of Sega’s most beloved cult classics is finally getting the attention it deserves, and fans across all platforms will soon have the chance to relive it in sharper, smoother form.
