While game prices on the U.S. PlayStation Store haven’t seen drastic jumps overnight, there’s a clear trend of rising costs across the board. Sony has slowly normalized the $69.99 base price for first-party games on PS5, and now even some older or cross-gen titles are being re-listed at higher prices, especially for digital deluxe or “complete” editions.
For many upcoming titles, the standard edition is now $69.99, while deluxe or premium versions often hit $79.99–$89.99, sometimes with early access or DLC bundled in. While this isn’t a sudden price hike, it reflects a steady shift in what’s considered the “new normal” for modern game releases in the U.S. market.

Although most of the more aggressive price increases are happening overseas — particularly on PC storefronts like Steam in Canada, Japan, and South Korea — the U.S. isn’t immune. Some games that used to launch at $59.99 are now quietly debuting at $69.99, and PlayStation Store sales are getting less generous in many cases, especially for big-name exclusives.
Sony hasn’t announced any formal pricing change for physical or digital games in the U.S., but with rising development costs, inflation, and larger-scale productions, it’s clear that $70 is no longer just a premium price — it’s becoming the new standard.
