Square Enix Post Hinted
A new post from Square Enix on X (formerly Twitter) has reignited speculation around a Final Fantasy 9 Remake. The post includes a line directly from the game’s ending sequence: “My memories will be part of the sky…”, paired with the caption “If you know, you know.”

While rumors have circulated for years, this marks the first time Square Enix has directly referenced Final Fantasy 9 in such a suggestive way. The timing couldn’t be more suspicious—just a week ago, the company launched the 25th Anniversary website for Final Fantasy 9, adding more fuel to the fire.
A remake of Final Fantasy 9 would make perfect sense for Square Enix. Their Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy has seen increasing success with each installment. Naturally, fans are hoping other classic titles get the same treatment, and FF9 seems like the next logical step.
Let’s just hope that, unlike FF7’s episodic format, Final Fantasy 9 arrives as a full, complete remake—one solid release, not broken into parts.
