SOMA Haunts Nintendo Switch With Atmospheric Horror Adventure

Sci-Fi Horror Classic Returns Now Portable and Optimized for Switch

Frictional Games and Abylight Studios have unveiled the debut trailer for the Nintendo Switch version of SOMA, their critically acclaimed sci-fi psychological horror game. Originally released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, SOMA captivated players with its chilling underwater setting and philosophical themes of consciousness and identity.

Set in the eerie depths of the Atlantic Ocean at the PATHOS-II research facility, players are immersed in a world where machines display human-like behavior and the boundary between mind and machine collapses. The Switch version promises to maintain the immersive storytelling and tension of the original while delivering a portable experience.

Although a specific release date hasn’t been confirmed, the game is expected to launch soon. The developers have emphasized that performance and visuals have been carefully optimized for Nintendo’s hybrid console, preserving the haunting ambiance that made SOMA a cult classic.

The move to Switch could also introduce a new audience to its slow-burning dread and narrative depth—qualities that continue to distinguish SOMA from conventional horror titles.
