Nintendo has announced that Super Mario Strikers is the next title coming to the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. The high-energy soccer brawler will be available to play on July 3, exclusively on Switch 2.
Originally released in 2005, Super Mario Strikers was the debut entry in the now-beloved Mario Strikers series. Known for its intense pace, chaotic items, and no-holds-barred gameplay, it remains one of the most unique and aggressive Mario sports titles ever made. There are no referees in this version of the Mushroom Kingdom—just electrified fences, full-contact tackles, and Super Strikes that score two points at once.
Players can choose from classic characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, and Waluigi as team captains, then dive into modes like Grudge Match, Cup Battles, and Custom Battles. Familiar Mario items—like shells, bananas, and mushrooms—add to the mayhem on the pitch, and Chain Chomp occasionally joins in for good measure.
Super Mario Strikers supports up to four-player multiplayer, both locally and online, and retains its original easy-to-pick-up control scheme, making it a perfect fit for casual sessions or competitive showdowns.
Super Mario Strikers arrives on July 3 for all Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.
