Tango Gameworks, the studio behind Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and The Evil Within, has officially returned after being shut down by Microsoft in May 2024. Just a few months later, Krafton — the publisher behind PUBG — acquired the studio along with the rights to Hi-Fi Rush, giving Tango a second chance. Now back in operation, the studio has reopened its Tokyo office, launched a new website, and revealed a new logo that reflects its vision as a “creative workshop.”
Creative Director John Johanas remains at the helm, and the studio is actively hiring for a brand-new action game. While details are still under wraps, the fact that Krafton owns the Hi-Fi Rush IP has sparked speculation about a potential sequel. However, with Microsoft retaining ownership of The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo, Tango is likely shifting toward new original titles.
This revival could signal a fresh era of creativity and stability for Tango Gameworks. Backed by Krafton’s resources and global reach, the studio has the potential to evolve into one of the most exciting action-game developers in Asia. If successful, Tango’s comeback could also inspire other shuttered studios to find new life under supportive publishers.
