Rebel Wolves, a studio formed by former developers of The Witcher 3, including game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, has officially announced their debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker. Revealed during the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase, this vampire-themed action RPG is set to release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC, with Bandai Namco handling global publishing. Built on the Unreal Engine 5, the game aims to deliver a visually stunning and deeply immersive dark fantasy experience.
Set in the richly imagined world of Vale Sangora, a fictional 14th-century Carpathian region, the story follows Coen, a man newly transformed into a Dawnwalker—a hybrid between human and vampire. Players are given a time-limited quest: Coen has just 30 in-game days and nights to rescue his family from a vampire rebellion led by the ominous figure Brencis. This countdown adds constant urgency to the journey, as time only progresses through key actions and quests. Every decision shapes the fate of the world and the people in it.
Gameplay revolves around the contrast between Coen’s dual nature. By day, he fights using traditional weapons and human abilities. By night, his vampiric powers awaken, allowing for supernatural combat and traversal. However, feeding on humans to stay alive comes at a moral cost—consuming too much blood can alienate allies and drastically alter the narrative. Combat will blend melee swordplay with mystical abilities, making each battle feel strategic and intense.
The developers describe the game as a “narrative sandbox”, where player choices influence alliances, environments, and possible endings. Gothic villages, corrupted forests, and crumbling castles fill the hauntingly beautiful world, which draws visual inspiration from Eastern European architecture and folklore. Factions, including vampire clans and feudal lords, each have their own agendas, and players must navigate this treacherous landscape with care. No character is purely good or evil—choices will shape not only the story, but Coen’s own identity.
Although detailed gameplay footage is still forthcoming, the cinematic reveal has already captivated audiences with its dramatic tone and rich world-building. The Blood of Dawnwalker is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious vampire RPGs in years, bringing together a seasoned development team, a bold narrative concept, and next-gen visual fidelity.
